What is the difference between BPA and IPC?▼
The British Parking Association (BPA) and the International Parking Community (IPC) are the two DVLA-accredited trade associations for private parking operators in the UK. Every legitimate operator that wants to obtain your details from the DVLA must belong to one of them. The trade body determines your independent appeal route: BPA members go to POPLA, IPC members go to IAS.
How do I know which trade body my operator belongs to?▼
Check the notice first: it should name the trade body. The rejection letter from your first appeal must name the independent appeals service and give you a code. You can also search the BPA's public Approved Operator list, or check the operator's own website for an IPC membership statement.
What if my operator isn't listed here?▼
This page covers the operators we see most often. If yours isn't listed, check the official BPA list or the IPC's website, or upload your notice for a free scan: we identify the operator, trade body, and appeal route from your document.
What if the company on my notice is not BPA or IPC approved?▼
Only approved operators can get your details from the DVLA. A charge on private land from a company that belongs to neither body is unusual and worth checking carefully before you pay or respond. A free scan will flag it.
